Q: How do I book a Drop In space, a Yoga Course or a Shamballa/Workshop?
A: Head to the Bookings Page, Make a booking/payment either by PayPal (with a small charge) or via an online transfer to the listed bank account (no charge). The system will register your payment and generate a booking confirmation. Please email me the drop in day/course that you would like to attend so that I can ensure there is space for you.
Q: Can I get a refund?
A: Please familiarise yourself with the Terms & Conditions: All bookings made are non-refundable/non transferable, except if/when I have to cancel a class/session myself, at which time I will offer a refund, or a session in lieu. Drop in classes are payable either via online/PayPal transfer or in cash at the session.
Q: Where are classes held?
A: I teach Yoga at three different studios in Brighton and Hove: Cornerstone Centre, Hove, Revitalise, Hove, Upstairs @ SIX, Hove, and on Brighton and Hove seafront during the summer months. Please see my Weekly Timetable page and my Weekend Workshop page for the full address of each venue, the timings, and all other info.
Q: How do I get there by public transport, and is there parking?
A: At Cornerstone Centre, Church Road Hove, parking is on-street ‘Pay & Display’. The centre is served by buses 1, 2, 5, 6, 25 and 49 along Church Road between Hove and Churchill Square and is roughly 10 minutes walk from Hove train station, and around 30 minutes walk from Brighton train station.
A: At Revitalise, Western Road, Hove, you can park on Cambridge Road, Brunswick Road, Norfolk Road, Norfolk Square, Brunswick Place, Waterloo Street or Brunswick Street East for £1.60 (2 hours), or Lansdowne Road £3 (4 hours). Alternatively, Waitrose is 10 minutes walk and is free for 90 mins.
There is a bus stop outside Revitalise (by the large Coop store, ask for Norfolk Square stop), served by the following buses: 1, 1A, 2, 2A, 5, 5A, 5B, 6, 24, 25, 46, 49, 49A, 81. Revitalise is approximately 20 minutes walk from Brighton train station, and 30 minutes walk from Hove train station.
A: Upstairs @ SIX studio is just a few minutes walk from Revitalise, along Western Road, Hove, so follows similar transport suggestions as above.
Q: Can I just turn up, last minute, at a class?
A: There are drop in spaces available at my sessions, however it is advisable that you RSVP beforehand (via text or email) to avoid disappointment as my classes get quite busy. The drop in price at class is £10, payable online or in cash at the session. I look forward to welcoming you soon!
Q: Are the classes suitable for beginners?
A: My classes are very accessible as I teach a gentle, mindful and flowing style of Yoga, combined with some deeper stretches and some carefully orchestrated challenges! I welcome complete beginners, and always offer modifications in the yoga poses/sequences for specific needs. My Tuesday evening class is a great starting point, my Thursday evening tends to be a little more dynamic in movement. Feel free to contact me beforehand to discuss any concerns you may have.
Q: Do I need to tell you about any health issues that could affect my yoga practice?
A: Yes please. In order for your safety, and for good practice, I do require a short health and safety form to be completed prior to the session. Please arrive a little early to complete your form at your first session and please remember to inform me of anything different (such as pregnancy) to ensure your health & safety in future sessions. Any information given to me is held in the strictest confidence and never shared.
Q: Should I eat before or after Yoga?
A: It is recommended that you allow at least one hour after eating before practising yoga so that you don’t have a full tummy and feel uncomfortable, and so that they body can efficiently digest your meal. Allow yourself some quiet time after the session before eating.
Q: How many people do you generally have in your groups?
A: The class is usually quite intimate with an average of between 8 and 10 yogis. The studio spaces are limited to maximum 14 people at my Tuesday evening class, and maximum 10 at my Thursday evening class and at the Weekend Workshops.
Q: What do I need to bring with me to the yoga session?
A: Each of the studios is fully equipped (mats, blocks, blankets, bolsters) so just bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. For the outdoor Yoga sessions you will need your own mat and any other props, along with some water, and sunscreen in the day time summer sessions, and warmer layers for any evening sessions.
Q: Do I need to bring my own mat to the yoga sessions?
A: Each of the studios is fully equipped (mats, blocks, blankets, bolsters) – you’re of course welcome to bring and use your own mat and props. For the outdoor Yoga sessions you will need your own mat/props, along with some water, and sunscreen in the day time summer sessions, and warmer layers for any evening sessions. .
Q: What should I wear to a Yoga class?
A: Please wear loose comfy clothing, such as leggings and a tee-shirt/vest, or similar. For the Outdoor Yoga sessions, layering is best, depending on the time of practice and the weather conditions.
Q: How do I get involved in the Outdoor Yoga sessions?
A: Please drop me an email or a text to let me know you’re interested in the Outdoor Yoga program, stating your availability for sessions. If you’re happy to provide me with a mobile number then I will add you to the Outdoor Yoga text notifications, as sessions are often quite last minute and subject to changes due to the weather! I also post sessions on my Facebook page: Karmiyoga Yoga – please ‘like’ my page and keep your notifications switched on to receive notiications.
Q: Where do the Outdoor Yoga sessions take place?
A: Head to the Western end of Hove Lawns to the grass facing the beach huts, and at the bottom of Fourth Avenue Hove. We meet there, and relocate if the area is busy with other group activities.
